Classic with a contemporary twist, this historic Capitol Hill home harkens back to its Washington heritage with timeless architecture, design and layout. Interior designer Darryl Carter created a rich, neutral palette incorporating design elements that are both edited and elegant. Every space was designed to be lived in. We worked to maintain the original elements of the home that was originally built in 1857 – painstakingly restored the facade, reproducing windows to mimic the originals and restoring the ornate gable millwork. Inside, we preserved the wood-burning fireplaces and restored the original mantles. The original footprint of the house was maintained- the end result is a truly livable home with a completed size of 4,870 square feet.
